History of Martick
Martick Jewellery was founded in 1988 by Julie Martick. The company launched with a range of contemporary cufflinks, which at that time was groundbreaking. The collection was very successful and was stocked by prestigious fashion stores including, Harvey Nicholls,Joseph and Paul Smith.
When the company's first 9ct collection was launched for the World Gold Council, Martick branched out into jewellery shops for the first time. Since then, Martick has concentrated on making good quality silver jewellery with a fashion bias, using traditional manufacturing methods - Each piece of Martick silver has hours of handcraft put into it , starting with the labour intensive master patterns, the subsequent cire perdu castings, through to hand soldering, finishing and polishing.
Martick are based in Hatton Garden, on the edge of the City, which has been the centre for gold and silversmithing in London for nearly a millennium. For hundered's of years craftmen have had workshops in the area and have used the Assay Office to hall mark jewels and establishing the purity of the precious metals involved. Martick's workshop in the heart of the 'Garden' is following in a century long tradition of hand made jewellery.
